Why make time for it

A brighter approach
to skin & self-care.

Red light therapy uses selected wavelengths to interact with light-sensitive molecules in the body. This process, called photobiomodulation, is studied for changes in cellular activity and skin appearance. At Awaken, it becomes a simple, immersive appointment you can build into your routine.

01

Smoother-looking skin

Repeated light treatments have improved measured skin roughness in controlled research. That makes texture a practical reason to explore red light: a gradual approach to the look and feel of skin, alongside the daily care you already use.

02

Fine lines & skin structure

Collagen gives skin structural support. Studies of red and near-infrared light have measured changes in collagen density and the appearance of fine lines over a series of sessions. The interest is in supporting skin quality over time, rather than a one-visit transformation.

03

A more refreshed appearance

A refreshed appearance is part of the broader skin story: texture, smoothness, and how skin looks over time. A booth session gives skin-focused self-care its own appointment, with light directed toward exposed areas across the body.

04

Light at the cellular level

Mitochondria help cells produce ATP, the energy used for everyday cell activity. Researchers study how absorbed red and near-infrared light can affect mitochondrial enzymes and downstream signals. This is the biological idea behind using specific light wavelengths and exposure settings.

05

An addition to a recovery routine

Whole-body light is also being explored around exercise. A study in active adults measured a next-morning change in heart-rate variability after light exposure, although performance and perceived recovery did not improve. It offers a different, low-effort experience for people curious about recovery technology.

06

Two modalities in one visit

Choose light alone or combine it with halotherapy at the same price. The shared booth lets you explore skin-focused light and dry-salt air together, making a 20-minute appointment a more layered wellness experience.

Skin-focused wellness guests

Interested in texture, fine lines, and a refreshed appearance? Explore light as part of an ongoing skincare routine and tell the team what you would like to focus on.

Athletes & recovery explorers

If you already make time for rest and recovery, light adds another technology to explore. Its quiet, stationary format brings a different pace to a visit that includes cold or compression.

Busy professionals

Set aside twenty minutes for personal care without turning it into a whole-day commitment. Allow extra time for check-in, changing, and settling into your first visit.

Guests pairing wellness & beauty

Awaken shares a location with Le Rêve Salon and Spa. Ask the teams how to coordinate appointments and the appropriate timing around any skincare services.

The Awaken difference

Step inside
the full-body glow.

The booth surrounds you with red and near-infrared light panels. You have the space to yourself, with the option to add active dry salt during the same appointment.

01

More than a small spot treatment

The booth format exposes a larger area of the body to the panels. The team explains positioning and eyewear so you can settle into the session.

02

Stand or take a seat

Choose a comfortable position for the twenty-minute appointment. Allow around thirty minutes for a typical visit, including getting ready and changing afterward.

03

Light, salt, or both

Your first session is $41.25 and regular visits are $55. Choose either modality or combine them at the same price; the team can switch salt off when you prefer light alone.

Inside the technology

A different kind
of light.

Red and near-infrared light create this experience. Unlike the sauna next door, the booth is designed around light exposure.

01 / The panels

The wavelength is part of the technology.

A wavelength describes a light wave’s size and helps determine how it is absorbed and scattered in tissue. Red light is visible; near-infrared sits just beyond the visible spectrum. Photobiomodulation research studies both. The booth’s session settings matter because light color alone does not describe the dose that reaches the skin.

02 / The interaction

Absorbed light can become a biological signal.

Mitochondria help cells produce ATP, a usable form of chemical energy. Researchers study mitochondrial enzymes—including cytochrome c oxidase—as links between absorbed light and changes in cellular signaling. Those signals are part of the scientific explanation for studying how light affects skin and other tissues over repeated exposures.

03 / The setup

Exposure is about more than minutes.

Light dose depends on power reaching the skin, time, distance, and wavelength. Positioning and the area exposed therefore matter. Our team explains the booth setup and eye protection so your appointment is consistent and comfortable. More time or closer positioning is not automatically better; follow the intended session setup.

Go a little deeper

From the laboratory to a wellness routine.

Open a question to explore the physiology and the research behind it.

Why is collagen part of the conversation?

Collagen contributes to the skin’s structure. In a controlled study with 136 volunteers, participants receiving repeated red or red/near-infrared light treatments showed improvements in skin roughness, appearance, and ultrasound-measured collagen density after 30 sessions. The study used gas-discharge light systems, not the same booth at Awaken, so it explains the research direction rather than predicting an identical result here.

Has LED light been studied for fine lines?

A 12-week trial compared red and white LED devices in 52 adult women. Instrument measurements of wrinkles improved from baseline in both groups, with no significant difference between groups. It provides useful context for gradual skin changes under a repeated exposure schedule; it does not establish that red light is superior to every other light approach.

What does “cellular energy” actually mean?

ATP is chemical energy cells use for ordinary work. In a laboratory study using isolated mitochondria, 808 nm light affected respiratory-chain enzymes differently, and the response depended on the exposure. That is why photobiomodulation focuses on specific parameters. A cellular measurement is different from measuring how energetic a person feels after a booth session.

Why is whole-body light part of recovery conversations?

A randomized crossover study tested twenty minutes of whole-body photobiomodulation before cycling in 48 active adults. Heart-rate variability was higher the next morning, but the study did not find improvements in cycling performance, perceived recovery, or stress. It illustrates why scientists study the body’s response separately from how recovered someone feels.

Before you arrive

A little
preparation.

  • Wear what you are comfortable in; clothing covers the skin beneath it. A private changing space is available.
  • Protective eyewear is provided. Follow the team’s instructions before the session begins.

Is this right for you?

Tell the team about light sensitivity or medications that increase it, and use the provided eye protection as instructed. If you have a light-sensitive condition, are pregnant, or are seeking treatment for a skin condition, consult your clinician first.

Good to know

Your questions,
answered.

Will red light give me a tan?

This booth uses red and near-infrared light rather than ultraviolet tanning light.

What does HaloRED mean?

It is the name for red light and dry salt together in the same booth. The halotherapy page explains how the salt equipment works.

Is a red-light session like sitting in a sauna?

They feel different. The sauna surrounds you with sustained heat; the booth surrounds you with light from its panels.

Should I mention medications before booking?

Yes—particularly anything that increases light sensitivity. Check suitability with your healthcare professional and tell the team before the session.
